Singapore F1 GP 2013 Wallpapers – Singapore Grand Prix is a motor race on the calendar of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The event takes place in Singapore on the Marina Bay Street Circuit and was the inaugural F1 night race and the first street circuit in Asia. Spaniard Fernando Alonso won the first edition of the grand prix, driving for the Renault F1 team. The Singapore Grand Prix will remain on the F1 calendar through at least 2017, after race organizers signed a contract extension with Formula One Management on the eve of the 2012 event.
Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel recorded yet another start-to-finish win at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday to further extend his lead in the Formula One championship.
The German was in a class of his own under the Marina Bay lights, winning by a massive 32.6 seconds over Fernando Alonso and boosting his championship lead on the Ferrari driver from 53 points to 60 with six races remaining.
“We are in a very good position. To be honest I am not looking at the championship too much,” Vettel said. “I am just enjoying it at the moment. Days like today and yesterday are what it is all about.”
Lotus’ Kimi Raikkonen was third, ahead of the Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in fourth and fifth respectively.
Starting from the pole, Vettel lost the lead at the first corner to Rosberg but took it back as the Mercedes driver ran wide at turn two. Even a safety car period just before half distance, which eroded his 12-second lead, could not prevent another Vettel victory.
“The start was quite hairy, Nico had a good start, but fortunately he went a little too deep and I was able to get him back,” Vettel said.
“With the safety car, it was difficult but we came back … we had very, very good pace.”
Red Bull’s runaway championship leader extended his lead still further in this year’s title race with a demonstration of such control and power that his rivals may as well give up now. Vettel’s winning margin – over 32 seconds from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso – would have been greater still but for a safety car mid-race that bunched the field.
Such was the German’s dominance – he was pulling away from his rivals at two seconds per lap at times – it was bound to raise the hoary old question: is it Vettel’s brilliance or is it the car he is driving?
There is no question that Adrian Newey’s RB9 is utterly superior to the rest. As Jenson Button said afterwards: “I take nothing away from Sebastian but he is not one and a half seconds better than Fernando.”
He is not. But then Vettel can only do his best with the equipment he is given. And the fact is that, conspiracy theories aside, his team-mate Mark Webber has the same equipment. Vettel more consistently maximises the car’s potential, making virtually no errors in the process.
He certainly didn’t make any yesterday. After a pre-race feeding frenzy as snappers scrambled to get a shot of Beckham on the grid, the race got off to a clean start.
