Hot of its back-to-back Dakar rally wins, MINI has released a limited run of a special edition car it calls the “John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 Dakar Winner 2013,” commemorating its victories.
With the help of Stephane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret, the French duo who piloted the MINI ALL4 racecar, MINI took an overall victory in this year’s Dakar.
Based upon the Countryman, the special edition combines world-class all-wheel drive technology with MINI’s driving dynamics. Under the hood, MINI has placed a 218-horsepower inline four-cylinder, which – as the name indicates – sends power to all four wheels.
From there, MINI designers added a matte black finish with bright green racing stripes and the “302” car number on both front doors. Auxiliary lights have been added to enhance the Dakar racing feel as well as 19-inch light-alloy wheels with a “Cross-Spoke Crusher” design.
On the inside, the bright green accents continue with green contrast stitching, a green embroidered winners logo on the headrests of the Gravity Black leather sports seats. Finishing off the interior, MINI added a special edition badge on the glove box complete with serial number.
Only 11 examples of the special Dakar Countryman will be made. And those 11 will only be offered in France, the home country of the winning Dakar team.
