Knight Rider, KITT, the car that was every child’s dream in childhood. If girls loved David Hasselhoff for Baywatch, boys loved him for Knight Rider, as Michael Knight. Knight Rider originally ran from September 26, 1982, to August 8, 1986. Michael Knight, a high-tech modern day knight fighting crime with the help of an advanced, artificially intelligent and nearly indestructible car.
Conceived and produced by Glen A. Larson, the show was an instant hit. “I wanted to do The Lone Ranger with a car”, and “Kind of a sci-fi thing, with the soul of a western”, Larson said in The Last Great Ride.
Self-made billionaire Wilton Knight rescues police detective Michael Long after a near fatal shot to the face, giving him a new identity (via plastic surgery) and a new name: Michael Knight. Wilton selects Michael to be the primary field agent in the pilot program of his Knight Industries-funded public justice organization, the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG). The other half of this pilot program is the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), a heavily modified Pontiac Trans Am with numerous features including an extremely durable shell and frame, controlled by a computer with artificial intelligence. Michael and KITT are brought in during situations where “direct action might provide the only feasible solution”.
Heading FLAG is Devon Miles, who provides Michael with directives and guidance. Dr. Bonnie Barstow is the chief engineer in charge of KITT’s care, as well as technical assistant to Devon (April Curtis fills this role in Season 2).

told me about an art challenge over at Chuck Dixon’s message boards with the topic of making a tv show into a cartoon. I thought it was a cool idea and sketched this up.

I suck at drawing cars, I had to use Hot Wheels toy for general reference (plus like countless number of screencaps and photos of KITT (KITT apparence changes often in the series, even in an one episode, hint: look at foglights)). I suck at painting cars hence there is a lineart. I suck at painting reflections on car’s body from imagination hence I couldn’t make it into fully painting. I suck so much at drawing cars that the normal drawing would look like a crap.
So here you have: half drawing, half painting with cheap titles, wtf, lol.
But shh! I’m proud.
I won’t draw Michael because I suck at drawing people, at least digitally. For some reason I can’t get the proportions right on the tablet… I prefer work with pencil and paint. And mirrors.

Rawr, my scanner likes killing things. O_o
Oh well, I still love it. XD
This is KITT, from the new TV special Knight Rider. God, I love that car. It’s so awesome.

If you already know, NBC is making a Knight Rider sequel with chubby, riced Shelby GT500KR in the role of KITT. I strongly disagree with the fact that a retro looking vehicle with ancient technology background should be pretending that it’s the most advanced car ever. So I designed my own version of KITT, based on my Firebird Trans Am design.

Kitt’s dashboard from my fanfictions. It’s called the G1 version dashboard which has the good qualities of the original two dashboards as seen in Knight Rider. Drawn with MSPaint and saved with Photoshop for a better quality.

This piece is a little different than my usual stuff. It’s the beginning of a wallpaper I’m making for my little sister. She just got a computer as a birthday/graduation gift and it needs wallpaper, and she asked that I make her something with KITT from Knight Rider on it. Unfortunately, quality pictures of KITT are hard to find, leaving me with only two options: give up, tell her “too bad,” and let her keep using the fish wallpaper that came with Windows or make my own image of KITT. Well, I obviously went with the second option. I couldn’t let my let my sister down or resist the challenge.
I began this image by tracing a medium resolution photo of a car that looked a lot like KITT in Illustrator. As I went, I got more adventurous and stopped trying to make an exact duplicate with vectors. At one point, I intended to use gradients and meshes, but when I got to the end without them and liked what I had, I decided not to.
Let me know what you think. Suggestions before I move on to making the wallpaper would be nice.
Disclaimer: I did not create KITT, just this picture of him.

This is just one part of a grander project I am working on. I took my lineart from The Knight Rider Companion and decided to color it in Photoshop into the fully rendered piece before you. This is part of a grander project I’m working on.
I converted my previous KARR artwork into KITT which was more work than I bargained for! I had to completely redo the bottom half to replace the silver! Note to KR artists out there, it’s easier to turn KITT into KARR than vice versa – however in my case, the angle I started with was of KARR so I had no choice but to do the reverse on this particular project.
Do not use this protected artwork in any form without my permission and if you +fav it, please be kind enough to leave a comment. It’s your feedback and encouragement that keeps me creating the work that I do.

Knight Industries Two Thousands
I think this KITT is better than Three Thousand. Two Thousand looks really like mystic and fiction car -> Pontiac Trans AM. New KITT is nice too, but is not look so good as old one.
I hope you will not lose in this text xD …

Bristol smooth paper, clutch pencils, tissues & stumps to blend.
I was really unhappy with the back ground at first – too many greasy marks (I do “try” to keep my fingers of the paper ) ) I’ve managed to clean most of them up – well it’s as good as its getting
A few of my lines are abit wobbly….but all in, I’m happy
First time using this paper, seems good……..I can see why so many use it – may get a A3 pad

KITT is the short name of two fictional characters from the adventure TV series Knight Rider. While having the same acronym, the KITTs are two different entities: one known as the Knight Industries Two Thousand, which appeared in the original TV series Knight Rider, and the other as the Knight Industries Three Thousand, which appeared first in the two-hour 2008 pilot film for a new Knight Rider TV series and then the new series itself. In both instances, KITT is an artificially intelligent electronic computer module installed in a highly advanced, very mobile, robotic automobile: the original KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) as a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am.

As a child of the wonderful eighties, i love everything from that decade. Also the Knight Rider franchise. Michael Knight was the hero of my childhood and i would like to see him back on screen – but this time on big screen!
He comes back, i can feel it *yeah*
