ItalDesign Giugiaro Parcour Concept

A surprise reveal in Geneva, the ItalDesign Giugiaro Parcour Concept is a unique design exercise created to help the operation celebrate its 45th anniversary. This distinctive multi-faceted player effectively melds a sporting mid-engine GT car with an equally capable off-road rambler.

Visually, the Parcour displays a number of intriguing design elements, including a detached A-pillar that serves as a wind deflector, octagonal fenderwell openings that house a 22-inch wheel/tire fitment and dramatic roof pillars that channel air onto the car’s retractable aft spoiler.

Motivation for the Parcour Concept is supplied by a 5.2-liter/550-horse Lamborghini V10 engine that sends power to all four wheel via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with sufficient gusto to send it from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds.

To ensure it can cope with the demands of getting down and dirty, the Parcour Concept features a unique pushrod-style suspension system that allows a driver to manually adjust the car’s ride height from 8.2 to 13.0 inches, as terrain and conditions dictate. The chassis — which also features two interconnected coilover spring/shock combos at each corner — can be dialed into Comfort, Off-Road, Ice or Sport modes by the driver. Under normal street operations, each wheel is only controlled by a single coilover unit.

The cabin of the ItalDesign Giugiaro Parcour Concept feature a Plexiglass dash panel that incorporates a multifunction split-screen LCD monitor directly ahead of the driver. It displays color-coded vehicle status, GPS navigation, audio system data or images from the rear camera in its upper portion and all of the basic instrumentation functions in its lower half. While the Parcour’s bucket seats are fixed in position, the car’s multifunction steering wheel and pedal set are both fully adjustable.

Sharing the spotlight in Geneva, Giugiaro also displayed an open-air version of his latest dream machine dubbed the Parcour Roadster. Dispatching the fixed roof did require some tactful re-engineering of the front and rear pillars, but its maker claims this even-sportier variant retains all of the coupe’s functionality.

What could possibly be better than a two-passenger, off-road performance coupe built atop the Lamborghini Gallardo platform? A topless version of said vehicle, of course. We’ve already showed you the ItalDesign Giugiaro Parcour in fixed-roof form, and now we’re able to bring you some live shots of the Parcour Roadster.

Honestly, the Parcour’s lines probably look better on the hardtop model, but the Roadster’s lack of top did give the ItalDesign Giugiaro crew a chance to change up the design ever so slightly. The windshield has been chopped and uses carbon-fiber pillars doubling as the vehicle’s rollbars, while the hoops over the seats are also designed with safety and styling in mind. In addition to the roof, the Roadster also removes the separator between the passenger compartment and the engine bay meaning there is absolutely nothing to filter the noise created by the mid-engine 5.2-liter V10 putting down 550 horsepower.
