Lada Niva on Steroids

THIS monster, which you can actually buy, is called Niva Marsh and is manufactured by Lada. The code name is VAZ-1922 and its a monster truck based on the UAZ 466 chassis. This monstrosity was the first vehicle to reach North pole. In January 2000 a standard Niva Marsh reached the North Pole without any modification. It was driven by two Russians from research base about 114 km from the Pole. They say that the Marsh behaved perfectly, maintaining an average speed of 15-20 Km/h in an average temperature of -30ºC.

“I’m used to the usual boring stuff from race car design,” Nelson told us yesterday morning. “It’s always interesting to get something different looking.”, says Nelson Piquet Jr. who will be running this new livery in the NASCAR Truck race in Charlotte, NC this weekend. The unique livery has been designed by UK-based artist Death Spray Custom.

A commemorative T-shirt and paper craft model will go on sale to show off the “Heat Signature” truck, which was inspiration by thermal images and movement. The design seems quite inspired by the 8-bit graphic rainbow to say the least.

As of 2010, Emma Maersk and her seven sister ships are the longest container ships constructed and the longest ships currently in use, after the largest ship ever built, Seawise Giant, was permanently moored in 2004 and scrapped in 2010. Now this big a ship, must be having a huge engine. The answer is yes. Emma maersk runs on the world’s biggest single diesel engine unit: The Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C.

The engine weighs 2,300 tons and capable of 109,000 horsepower when burning 3,600 US gallons of heavy fuel oil per hour. At economical speed, fuel consumption is 0.260 bs/hp/hour. The ship has several features to lower environmental damage, some of which include exhaust heat recovery and co-generation. Some of the exhaust gases are returned to the engine to improve economy and lower emissions, and some are passed through a steam generator which then powers a steam turbine and electrical generators to generate electricity.

Audi R8 is one of the most recognizable supercars in the world and the car single handily raised the dwindling Audi reputation. The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG’s high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built around space frame principles. The car is built by quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi’s ‘aluminium site’ at Neckarsulm in Germany.

6-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx described the R8 as “the best handling road car today”. The Audi R8 is used as a safety car in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and British Superbike Championship racing series.

Small, cute, fast, flexible, mod-able… Mini… Mini Cooper ie. She has been the buddy of Mr. bean and she did the Italian Job… twice and has won zillions of hearts across the world and is still going strong. Artists love to drw her as Mini is one of the most desirable drawing subject.

The Mini is a small economy car that was made by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered a British icon of the 1960s, and its space-saving front-wheel drive layout — allowing 80% of the area of the car’s floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage — influenced a generation of car makers. The vehicle is in some ways considered the British equivalent to its German contemporary, the Volkswagen Beetle, which enjoyed similar popularity in North America. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T.

IRC Rally Corsica 2012

Following the Azores and the Canary Islands, the third consecutive rally on an island awaits Hermann Gassner Junior and the Red Bull Rally Team – the 2012 Rally Corsica.

According to expert opinion, the fourth round of the 2012 IRC ranks among the most difficult tests on the calendar. The selective route across the entire island of Corsica sees to that, with 14 demanding special stages that are each solely run once.

Moreover, this year’s strongest field of participants awaits Gassner Jr, with 21 S2000 teams. The key data of Rally Corsica: 318 kilometres in 14 special stages, overall distance: 318 kilometres.

Hermann Gassner Jr. is aware of the difficulties of this task and considers it a great opportunity:

“Even though it’s going to be my first Rally Corsica I still presume that the narrow and twisty roads should suit me,” he said.

“Tyre failures, however, are always a possibility here, and we’ll have to pay close attention. I want to complete a faultless rally and orientate myself towards the best drivers in the IRC.”

BRR team principal Raimund Baumschlager added: “This rally is in the same league as WRC events and definitely the most difficult tarmac test in the global rallying calendar.

“An additional challenge – each of the 14 special stages will be run only once – and that’s why perfect pace notes are particularly important for this rally.

“From Hermann I expect another improvement and, ideally, a faultless rally. Thank goodness my winning car of the previous round of the Austrian rally championship is completely undamaged – so we’re ready to dish it up.”

5 races in the F1 2012 so far and 5 different champions. Enters the fifth new champion Pastor Maldonado of Williams F1 team. Williams’ Bruno Senna and Mercedes’ Michael Schumacher on the collision that ruined both their races; Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber on the Red Bull’s nose issues; McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton on being the only driver on a two-stop strategy; and Williams’ Pastor Maldonado on taking his team’s first victory since 2004.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling winning my first race. The car felt really consistent, was fantastic to drive and our pace was strong throughout. Alonso was chasing me hard but we looked after our tyres well and I managed to open the gap towards the end. The team has worked so hard all year and this win is for them. To be the first Venezuelan to win a Formula One race is a big honour and hopefully I will win more races in the future.” says Pastor Maldonado.
