German tuner Geiger Cars is the rare European aftermarket company that specializes on American vehicles. It’s a distinction the company has proudly worn on its sleeves and with a history of impressive programs, it’s a badge of honor that’s certainly well-deserved.
Recently, Geiger Cars added another feather on its cap with the introduction of its new program for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 . Re-christened as the Camaro LS9, the tuning program covers an expansive set of modifications done on the Camaro ZL1’s body and engine. No surprises there, considering it is, after all, Geiger Cars we’re talking about.
One look at the new Camaro LS9 and you’re immediately drawn to the sharp-looking exterior that mixes a white body finish with a neon green touch on the front fender flares, the side sills, and the rear underbody. The Camaro also has a revised grille, a new spoiler, race-inspired tow hooks, and a new set of 19- and 20-incch Goysar wheels wrapped in Michelin Cup tires. A bar code design graphic on the doors round out the exterior modifications, adding a distinctive style to what already looks like a sportier and more aggressive looking Camaro.
Pop open the hood and you’ll notice that the engine configuration has been dramatically improved with the additions of a new pistons, upgraded camshafts, a new crankshaft, a larger intercooler, and optimized cylinder heads.
With all those new components added into the Camaro ZL1’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine, the muscle car’s output rockets up to an incredible 780 horsepower and 725 pound-feet of torque, good enough to blast the coupe off the block and reach 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds. A quarter-mile time of 11.9 seconds is similarly impressive, as is the 210 mph top speed that the Camaro LS9 is now capable of hitting.
The program is impressive all the way around, which largely explains why it’s also expensive. For all the bells and whistles of this tuning kit, Geiger Cars is charging €138,090, which is just under $190,000 based on current exchange rates.
