Description - BMW's motorcycle history began in 1921 when the company commenced manufacturing engines for other companies. Motorcycle manufacturing now operates under the BMW Motorrad brand. BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG) introduced the first motorcycle under its name, the R32, in 1923.

The BMW R 1200 ST is a semi-faired motorcycle brand of the BMW with a two-cylinder boxer engine . ST is an abbreviation for S port Touring. It fits between the R 1200 RT and R 1200 R is one.

The R 1200 ST is equipped with modern digital engine control (BMS-K), electronic fuel injection with fuel cut-off , dual ignition and 3-waycatalyst equipped. The design was controversial among motorcycle riders, especially the front was not well received.
