ETF Trucks – There came a new player on the block of mining and hauling trucks back in 2010, but what becamo of it is anybody’s guess. The name is ETF trucks (stands for Europe truck Factor). ETF was going to offer 80, 125, 155 and 218t payload models, from the MT-88 to the MT-240. These trucks had some pretty interesting ideas for a mining truck.
Back in 2011, every major automotive website did an article on ETF trucks, but since then, there has been no update of these trucks. There should have been a prototype ready by 2012, but we have never heard of anythign of the type. If you try to serach for photographs, you can only find 3D renders. There is only one real photograph of the ETF truck available.
The ideas of central cabin, hauling trains and double axles were liked and disliked by many + the trucks were menat to have portable and replaceable engine units. All of these deas were to be tested in relaity, but there is no clue to what happened and what became of the ETF trucks.
Meanwhile, China has already lifted the double axle concept and has implemented it in their WTW220E Mining Truck. Looking closely you can see that this truck actually resembles the ETF concept a lot. Well done China…!!
